We’re about to have legal edibles in Canada!
October is right around the corner and legalization of edibles in Canada is just over 8 weeks away! Who’s excited? We are at Friendibles, we think its great news for out kit.
The B.C. Government just put out a call for infused edible product submissions because they’re concerned that there won’t be enough to meet demand once Oct 17th actually hits. This is an intriguing call to action considering BC’s relatively impotent role out of licensed dispensaries, causing most user to turn to black market sources. BC has 14% of the nation’s population but only accounts for 7% of the total sales of recreational bud. Compared to its neighbour Alberta that has 28% of total sales with only 12% of the national population. The big factor here is convenience. It’s not like the product in Alberta is any better, its just much, much easier to go out and buy. This is also probably the envy of our brethren in the Toronto area, who are criminally short on licensed brick-and-mortar stores. Not to go too far out on a tangent, but even when you do manage to get some legal stuff, its always too dry (not a problem for infusion into coconut oil though).
Back to the BC Government’s open submission period, which lasted for a whopping 8 hours btw, its up to Health Canada (the Feds) not BC whose products get approved for sale. The Federal approval process requires at least 60 days for review before the product become available to consumers. This means if anything becomes available, it’ll be just in time for Christmas shopping… and in limited quantities.
It’ll be anyone’s guess if the role-out of edibles will be better or worse than the original legalization a year ago (our guess is that it’ll be about the same).
So if you want to be one of the first people to try legal edibles, have fun in the over-night line up for something that will be way too strong for the majority of us.
Meanwhile the Friendibles fam will have already become master’s of making our own, with the right amount of stuff in eat piece. Crowdfunding for kits goes up soon. Stay tuned to our Facebook page or signup for our newsletter at our website to keep up to date.

Edibles Legalization is Almost Here.
Who’s excited? Friendibles is. We think its great news for out kit. If that sounds strange, read on…
Any infused food that is “attractive to minors” (to eat) will be banned in La Belle Province. If you want something sweet, I guess that means you’ll have to make your own.
In Canada, the creation and consumption of THC infused edibles is currently legal for private use only. This means you are permitted to make them at home but you can’t buy or sell them. In the US, it depends on what State you’re in. In either case, this post provides you with some guidelines and a quick understanding of the legality of edibles.
